Nineteen of the Russian's twenty-one championships have been achieved on hard courts
A resurgent Medvedev secured his first trophy for 882 days with a win over Corentin Moutet in the competition final.
Medvedev, a ex- top-ranked player, has endured a difficult season, winning just a single victory at the Grand Slams and suffering a setback at the US Open.
The player's varied form on the professional circuit - and difficulties with his service game in particular - caused him dropping out of the world's top 10 and ultimately separating with former trainer his previous coach.
Now working with his coach and his other coach, the tennis star has gradually progressed in the recent weeks - culminating in a closely contested three-set victory over Frenchman Moutet.
This represents Medvedev's maiden trophy following the Italian tournament and initial on a hard court since March of that year.
The win also signifies he has secured 21 championships at twenty-one distinct events.
"It's the first time I have attended a tournament with my children at once, so to secure a trophy is really nice," stated tennis professional the champion.
"This title is in honour of my younger daughter my daughter, because the maiden victory I got when my first daughter her name was born was for her."
The tennis star, the former major winner, had been defeated in his last six finals, including in that event previously this season.
His counter-punching approach and regular emotional displays on the tennis court had led commentators to wonder if his capacity to compete at the top level was finished.
But the athlete has made changes in the last few weeks, striving to come to the net and perform aggressively, backed up by an improved serving game.
He recovered from a break down in the first set against the difficult Frenchman, taking 4 of the concluding five exchanges to take the lead.
The competitors traded breaks in the middle set before the challenger, attempting for his maiden ATP Tour title, gained dominance to push for a decider.
He defended 4 early-game break points in a tight third set before the Russian secured a break to 15 to serve for the match.
Suitably, he earned victory with a shot at the net, with his opponent unable to control a volley after a lengthy match.
